Abundant Grace!

Abundant Grace!

2 Corinthians 9:8 – “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

This verse is certainly perfect for this time of year. I notice every November as Christmas draws closer, that the “get-er-done” part of me can feel like it’s at the “starting gate” ready to run hard to tackle the to-do lists! And yes, this part, once it gets going, has a hard time slowing down for anyone or anything. It’s as if I feel that it all depends upon me and me alone to finish the tasks!!

This year, God was very kind to remind me of the verse above just as those November nudges were starting. Let’s look briefly at his amazing promise here…

“And God is able…” We could just stop here and that would settle 98% of any anxiety that creeps into my soul. GOD IS ABLE. I may feel very inadequate, weak, or confused at times, BUT He is able. NOTHING is too hard or too difficult for him. He knows how to work everything together for good! AND He knows perfectly how to help me!

Here’s how he helps: He fills me with abounding grace … full grace… All-I-need-kind-of grace. And grace for what? “All things” from the biggest responsibility to the smallest details. And WHEN is that grace available? At ALL TIMES! Day or night, He is there ready to pour out the grace: spilling-over-grace, to meet all my needs.

And look at the last phrase: “you will abound in every good work.” God has good works that HE has chosen for each of us … custom designed works, lining up perfectly with His purpose and plans for us.

God doesn’t want us to go it alone, exhausting ourselves as we plough through our lists and to-do’s. He is there with abounding grace and best of all, his presence, to bless us and to bless others through us. Will I trust that this is true and reach out to Him for grace and help in all my times of need? Will I turn to him, lift up my face, and say, “Help?”

Dear Lord, Thank you for your amazing grace that is abundant and free. Help me trust that you are always there, eagerly ready to help and share in all those things, big and small, that you have for me to do. Amen!
