Psalm 138:3

Psalm 138:3

“On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.” – Psalm 138:3

Earlier this week I woke up one morning feeling uncertainty in my heart about a number of things, and it left me feeling anxious. Of course, the obvious remedy would be to seek the Lord through the Word and prayer, but there I was… scrolling through Facebook. The words of a Christian author and pastor that I follow showed up in my feed: “If you wake up feeling fragile, read the Bible until you find a promise strong enough to carry you through the day. God is always faithful. He will come through for you again.”

I needed that nudge that morning to flip over to my Bible app and start scanning through the Psalms. I landed on Psalm 138:3: “On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.”

I love it when a scripture in the Bible promises God’s action. He will “increase my strength of soul” when I call on Him. I am not the source of strength – HE is!

Even when I feel especially weak, he comes alongside me and gently steers me back to the truth. It brings to mind: “if we are faithless, he remains faithful — for he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13.)
