Daylight Savings Time – Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour this Saturday before you go to bed!
Plan for All Church Thanksgiving Meal – Because of Covid-19 restrictions, Stonebrook will not have its annual all church Thanksgiving meal this year. However, we will do two positive things to replace the meal:
- Stonebrook usually spends about $1,000 on the Thanksgiving meal each year (to buy turkey, etc.). This year, Stonebrook donated $500 each to Food at First and to Hope Ministries to use on their Thanksgiving meal outreaches.
- We will be doing a food drive from today until November 22 in order to help replenish the food pantry at Bethesda Lutheran church. Please help by bringing perishable food items, paper products, and feminine hygiene products to the foyer at church by November 22nd. We will have boxes in the foyer, and if they get full, we will start a pyramid on one of the walls!
Thank you so much for your generosity! We are looking forward to taking a negative (no meal) and turning it into a way to help in our community!
Changes to Prayer Meetings – This ministry year we are adopting the following changes to our all church prayer meetings with a desire to better serve you:
– increasing the frequency: do it weekly. This will give us a better rhythm.
– for a shorter duration each time: 30 minutes.
– Day/time: Sundays 7-7:30pm. Every Sunday unless otherwise notified.
– Do it via Zoom. Below is the zoom link that will be used each time we meet.
Topic: Stonebrook Church Weekly Prayer Meeting (Sundays at 7-7:30pm)
Meeting ID: 939 987 4228
Please join us this Sunday at 7pm!
Volunteer Needed – The Renovation Committee is looking for a volunteer to help Joshua Burke on Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m. (for the next 2-3 Wednesdays) to lift doors on and off hinges as Joshua works to install door hardware. The volunteer will need to be able to strong enough to lift doors and use a cordless drill. Additional experience with tools would be nice, but not necessary. Contact Terri Huffman (email@example.com) if you are able to help out.
Janitorial Position Opening – Stonebrook is looking for a janitor to work once a week (about two hours per week). The position is responsible for weekly cleaning of the nursery, the comfort room, and a list of tasks to be rotated on a monthly basis. If you are interested, contact the office.
Adult Sunday School/Prayer Discussion – Join Ev Cherrington as he leads an adult Sunday school prayer discussion group starting on Nov. 15 from 8:45-9:30 a.m. in the Upper Room. Bring a journal, and be ready to discuss what prayer means, how prayer fits into the life of a believer, and how to pray without ceasing, among other topics. The group will meet either every two weeks or monthly, depending on the desire of the group.
Week of Prayer Nov. 9-15 – Be sure to sign up for prayer time(s) during Stonebrook’s annual week of prayer November 9-15. This year, because of Covid-19, you can sign up to pray either at the building, or in your home! Sign up for a time to pray.
Operation Christmas Child – Happy November! The countdown has begun…two weeks to Collection Sunday November 15th! There is still time to grab a box and fill it up with love and prayer and bring it back on the 15th! Stop by our table in the foyer after church or pick up a box at the church office during regular office hours.

This week’s sermon: Pastor Matt will preach on “Acts: The Holy Spirit and His Unstoppable Church: Acts 15: Disagreements, Debates, and Decisions. In this week’s section, we examine several conflicts that arose in the church as they spread “to the remotest parts of the earth”. With gentiles now becoming a large part of the community of faith, the chosen people of God, how ought they operate? New situations and clashing cultural habits lead to some difficult conversations and decisions. As we look at how the church handled these situations, we gain insight into how to handle disagreements and decisions in our churches today.
