No Nursery this Sunday – Due to a lack of volunteers, there will be no nursery during this Sunday’s service. If you are interested in volunteering for future Sundays, contact Liz Crimmins at firstname.lastname@example.org
Week of Prayer Nov. 9-15 – Be sure to sign up for prayer time(s) during Stonebrook’s annual week of prayer November 9-15. This year, because of Covid-19, you can sign up to pray either at the building, or in your home! Sign up for a time to pray.
Food Drive/Plan for All Church Thanksgiving Meal – Because of Covid-19 restrictions, Stonebrook will not have its annual all church Thanksgiving meal this year. However, we will do two positive things to replace the meal:
- Stonebrook usually spends about $1,000 on the Thanksgiving meal each year (to buy turkey, etc.). This year, Stonebrook donated $500 each to Food at First and to Hope Ministries to use on their Thanksgiving meal outreaches.
- We will be doing a food drive from today until November 22 in order to help replenish the food pantry at Bethesda Lutheran church. Please help by bringing non-perishable food items, paper products, and feminine hygiene products to the foyer at church by November 22nd. We will have boxes in the foyer, and if they get full, we will start a pyramid on one of the walls!
- If you are interested in serving at Food at First for the holidays or anytime of the year, check out their website, https://foodatfirst.wordpress.com/ . This could be a wonderful CG project to consider!
Thank you so much for your generosity! We are looking forward to taking a negative (no meal) and turning it into a way to help in our community!
Urgent Volunteer Needed – The Renovation Committee is looking for a volunteer to help Joshua Burke on Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m. (for the next 2-3 Wednesdays) to lift doors on and off hinges as Joshua works to install door hardware. The volunteer will need to be able to strong enough to lift doors and use a cordless drill. Additional experience with tools would be nice, but not necessary. Contact Terri Huffman (email@example.com) if you are able to help out.
Janitorial Position Opening – Stonebrook is looking for a janitor to work once a week (about two hours per week). The position is responsible for weekly cleaning of the nursery, the comfort room, and a list of tasks to be rotated on a monthly basis. If you are interested, contact the office.
Operation Christmas Child – It is Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Collection Sunday!! Please bring your filled shoeboxes into church with you on Sunday morning. Our Stonebrook teens will be in the foyer ready to receive your box. If you can’t make it to church on Sunday you can still drop your filled and labeled box at the church office before Wednesday evening Nov. 18th. Remember that each box needs a label and you can go on line at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/follow-your-box/ and print a label. The cost for shipping is only $9 per box. If you didn’t fill a box but you want to give towards the ministry and help cover shipping costs or pay for a child to receive discipleship materials and a Bible then go to this website https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/the-greatest-journey/ There is still time to Build a Shoebox online for just $25 a box at this website https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline/
Thank you for being a part of getting the good news of Jesus Christ to children all over the world. Keep praying for your box and the child that will receive it that he/she will receive the gift of Jesus.
If you have any questions or concerns as you finish filling your shoebox, please contact Sandy Wigdahl at (515) 460-3206.
Christmas card Crafting – Let’s get into the Christmas Spirit! The Women’s Ministry is hosting two opportunities for service and fellowship on November 19th at 6 p.m. and November 21st at 2 p.m. in the Stonebrook Kitchen. We will be creating 200 Christmas Cards for the residents of Keystone and Accura Healthcare in Ames to send to their families.

This Week’s Sermon: Pastor Brad will preach on “Acts: The Holy Spirit and His Unstoppable Church: Acts 20-28: Accomplishing the Mission, Finishing the Course.” As the world gets darker, staying true to Christ becomes increasingly difficult. How do we stay strong in an ever-more-hostile world? Today we look at Acts 20-28 and see the fuel behind Paul’s love for the world, dedication to mission, and sacrificial selflessness. Despite hardship, imprisonment, scoffers, and shipwreck, he stays true to his mission and faithful to the Lord Jesus.
Weekly Memory Verse: “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24, ESV)
