Prayer Meetings – There will be no prayer meetings on Dec. 20 and 27. We will resume with the weekly Sunday evening prayer meetings on Jan. 3.
Diaper Donations for Obria – Life is MESSY and full of CHANGES! Add a package of diapers under the tree in the church entryway for Obria…the crisis pregnancy center here in Ames.
Demo Days! – We are getting ready for a contractor to work on the new gathering area, and we need to have some demo days in the existing nursery! Whether you are high or low skilled, any able-bodied person can be put to work! The demo days will be Dec. 30, 31, and Jan. 2 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sign up for as much time as you have!
Nursery Volunteers for Spring – Liz Crimmins is looking for nursery volunteers for 2021 and is looking for people willing to serve the youngest in our church congregation and their families. No previous experience required and the only things you need to do to get started are reading a couple documents and filling out a background check. It doesn’t matter if you can serve for one Sunday or would like to get into a rotation for once a month. We would love to have you either way. If you are interested in signing up or have any questions, please email Liz at email@example.com or call/text her at 515-302-1325. Thanks for your prayerful consideration!

This Week’s Sermon: Pastor Dave will teach on “Advent: Rescues – God’s Purposes in the Exile.” God was powerfully at work even during the darkest, bleakest period of Israel’s history. The book of Daniel records some of the amazing things God did while Israel was captive in a foreign nation. Some of his purposes in the Exile were to reprove sin, refine faith, rescue from danger, reach the world, and reveal the future. There is a real sense that all of us, like Daniel, are in captivity, exiled from Eden, strangers in a foreign land and far from our true home. Yet God is at work in our lives with the same objectives as we see in the book of Daniel.
Weekly Memory Verse – “If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17–18, ESV)
