Announcements for the Week of March 21

2021 Women’s Retreat Every Piece: God’s MosaicThe last day to register for the women’s retreat is March 28!  Register on-line, or pick up a brochure in the foyer. We are looking forward to spending time with you either in-person or virtually on Saturday, April 10th for this year’s one day retreat.  We will gather at the church to spend some time in (socially distanced) fellowship with our sisters in Christ, as well as on Zoom.  We have a full day of connection, relaxation, and fun planned for you.

Easter Lilies – Would you like to donate an Easter lily in memory of a loved one for Stonebrook’s Easter Sunday service? Sign up to donate an Easter lily, fill out the form at https://sbcc.us/2V3wFWD or send an e-mail to Terri Huffman (terri@stonebrook.org) for more information. Then, purchase a lily and deliver it to the church by Friday, April 19. We will display your lily on Easter Sunday!

Good Friday Service – Join us for Stonebrook’s annual Good Friday service, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. The service will be in person, and on livestream. Find the livestream on Stonebrook’s Website. This year there will be no meal in conjunction with the service.

Easter Collection for Obria and Martha’s House of Hope – As we celebrate another holiday where we are unable to all come together for a meal, we’ve decided to have another collection to celebrate LIFE: Eternal LIFE that we all graciously have been given by our Savior’s sacrifice on the cross and the precious gift of LIFE for our unborn children.  In place of our Good Friday soup dinner, we’d like to collect needed items for our Obria Medical Clinic and Martha’s House of Hope, both right here in Ames.  Both organizations support the LIFE of the unborn and the mommies choosing LIFE.  Here is a link to the list of needs.  All items may be placed in the foyer up to Easter Sunday.  Thank you for protecting and supporting our unborn babies and their moms!

Janitor Position Opening – Stonebrook is looking for a janitor to work 8-10 hours a month. The position requires working Saturday afternoon or night, and is responsible for cleaning the church for the Sunday morning service. Contact the office (office@stonebrook.org) if interested.

Marriage Conference April 30-May 1 – Stonebrook will be joining Walnut Creek Church in downtown Des Moines for a marriage conference April 30-May 1. The conference will start Friday evening, and end Saturday afternoon. The theme of the conference is “Known.” God never intended for us to hide from Him and others. Intimacy has always been His intention. We were made to be known. For more information and to register, go to https://walnutcreekchurch.org/known/

Virtual Parenting Party – Matt and Sarah Dickenson are becoming parents!  They are having a baby in late July and are wanting to be approved by May for a child in Foster Care to be able to be placed with them. So instead of just a baby shower, we’re hosting a Parenting Party in person and virtually to help equip them as they enter into parenthood in the coming months.

To participate in any way, check out the Facebook Event page called Dickinson’s Parenting Party-Ames. Click on the “…” under the details section to view all the ways you can pray for, advise, and bless them as we celebrate together! (If you have trouble finding it, feel free to email Jennybiang@gmail.com.)

Serving our Community:
Obria Medical Clinic, our Ames prolife clinic formerly called Informed Choices, is in need of volunteers to work the front desk.  Please contact Rhonda at rmorrison@obria.org or call the clinic directly at 515-620-5892.

This Week’s Sermon –   Pastor Matt will preach on “Minor Prophets: Turn and Live. Let Justice Roll Down – An Overview of Amos.” This week we will look at the book of Amos, the first prophet to the Northern Kingdom. The nation of Israel hid immorality, greed, oppression of the poor and weak, and many other sins behind a veneer if religious performance. The prophet calls them (and so, us) back to worship of the true God from the heart, evidenced by love for their neighbor and a passion for justice and righteousness.

Weekly Memory Verse – Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” Amos 5:23-24 (ESV)
