Announcements for the Week of April 18

Announcements for the Week of April 18

Office Closed April 19 – The Stonebrook office will be closed on Monday, April 19.

Member’s Meeting May 5 – Please mark your calendar for an important all-members meeting, Wednesday, May 5 from 7-9 p.m.  We have some important things to discuss!

This meeting will take place in person only, with no live stream component, but will be recorded for later viewing for those that are unable to be there. There will be some elements we need you for live, however, so please make every effort to be there!

Typically this annual meeting will be at the beginning of the year in January. We had to bump it to this date due to a scheduling log-jam.

A more formal agenda will be forthcoming, but during this time we will:

  • Hear a “State of the Church” update post-COVID. Where to from here?
  • Welcome new members, and hear updates on members who have moved on.
  • Hear some personal and ministry life updates from the elders
  • Get an update from the deacon team on some of their efforts
  • Begin a new practice of “annual re-affirmation” of the elders, where we will give you a chance, yearly, to affirm your commitment to their leadership of the church, and have an opportunity to privately raise your hand if you have some concerns. (This will take the form of a “ballot” that we fill out during the time, with follow up meetings as needed later.)

Thank You from Obria and Martha’s House of Hope – Thank you to all those who donated to the Obria and Martha’s House of Hope collection this Easter season!  The Lord had to have orchestrated every donation because the variety and amounts of each item could not have been more perfectly selected!  May these gifts bless both the parents and the children who receive them and may the work of Obria and Martha’s House continue to shine for our Lord, Jesus! Thank you, dear Brothers and Sisters!

Marriage Conference April 30-May 1 – Stonebrook will be joining Walnut Creek Church in downtown Des Moines for a marriage conference April 30-May 1. The conference will start Friday evening, and end Saturday afternoon. The theme of the conference is “Known.” God never intended for us to hide from Him and others. Intimacy has always been His intention. We were made to be known. For more information and to register, go to https://walnutcreekchurch.org/known/

This Week’s Sermon –   Pastor Brad will preach on “Micah – Who is Like the Lord?” In our series on the Minor Prophets, we will look at Micah’s words where he offers warnings of impending judgment for sin. But we will also find that he shouts words of hope of a coming glorious day of a Shepherd and Ruler from Bethlehem who is from ancient days. Who is like the Lord? For this Ruler, Jesus Christ, will bring security and peace to the earth at last in an eternal paradise, finally restoring what was lost millennia ago in Genesis 3 in the Garden. And he has come to bring us peace personally, as well. As we study Micah, we will discover that Jesus can become our greatest satisfaction and hope in life.

Memory Verse: Micah 7:18 “Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.” (ESV)
