Missions Opportunities

State-and-Local Missions Mini-Fundraiser Ends
Due to your generosity, we have exceeded the fundraising goal for the State-and-Local Missions fundraiser. We will be closing the fundraiser as of Monday, October 11. Thank you so much for your contributions!

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Drive
Remember to stop by our table after church and see Sven the giraffe and pick up a shoebox.  Please pray for this outreach…for the child who will receive the box you pack and for their family and their community.  Pray for the gospel to be shared and lives to be changed.

We have set up a Goal Page for Stonebrook Church if you want to pack a shoebox on-line.  This will cost $25 and these boxes go to restricted countries.  Just use this link to build your box on line and it will count towards our goal of 50 on-line boxes.

If you need information on how to pack a shoebox on-line then check out this video or stop by our booth after church:

November 14th is Collection Sunday so let’s work hard to reach our goal of 250 gospel opportunity shoeboxes packed and ready to do God’s work!

Women’s ONE Conference
Stonebrook women have been invited to attend this year’s One Conference, hosted by Cornerstone Church in Ames on October 29-30. More info and registration can be found at To receive our group rate, visit, click “Join a Group.” Select the group: “Stonebrook Community Church,” and enter the passcode: STONEBROOK.

Women’s SIP! Oct. 9
Come join us this Saturday morning as we look at some of the ways God is infinite – without end.  The sciences give us many examples of God’s infinite wisdom and power.  We see His infinite beauty and order in the study of mathematics.  Let’s be encouraged in the Word as we contemplate this attribute of our eternal God. We will meet this Saturday (Oct. 9) from 10-11:30 a.m. at Stonebrook.

Women’s Prayer Times
Stonebrook Women’s Ministry will host a women’s prayer gathering on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the church.  We will gather to praise our most powerful and merciful God, lift our petitions before Him, and pray for the furtherance of His kingdom on earth. Join us for this time of prayer!

Sunday Morning Prayer Time
Ev Cherrington is hosting weekly Sunday prayer times from 8:30-9:15 a.m. in the Upper Room. Join us as we pray!

Ev’s 84th Birthday Reception
Ev is turning 84 on October 15th which is the oldest he’s ever been. His Lord led him to this wonderful fellowship in the early 70’s. Many stories and people have come down the pike and he remembers them all– NOT. Ask him to recall some at a reception on October 17th in the multipurpose room from Noon-2 p.m.

Baptism Sunday Oct. 31
We will have our next Baptism Sunday on October 31. If you are interested in being baptized that day, contact the church office (

Our international student ministry (ISM) has been meeting international students every Saturday at the church. Our goal is to build healthy love relationships that revolve around God’s truth. We serve dinner, followed by discussion and games every Saturday. Currently, the average attendance is 30-50 people/week.

Here is a Google drive link to access to the food sign up list. If you are interested, put your name and the type of food you are providing, along with a little note (optional) about what you would like us to know about you or the reason you are sharing the meal. The students will be happy to hear it!

This Week’s Sermon
Pastor Matt will preach on Luke 7:18-35 – “The One Who is and is to Come.” While in prison, John the Baptist hears reports of Jesus’s ministry. Many things line up with his expectation of the Messiah, but many things do not. He sends his followers to ask Jesus directly “are you indeed the Messiah, or are we waiting for someone else?”  Jesus’s unusual response inspires trust in God for those who believe and repent, but for those who are righteous in their own mind, no response he could give would be sufficient.

Memory Verse: Luke 7:23 “And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”
