Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, I came to Iowa State in 1973 with a love for teaching, singing, dancing, plays, hiking, and the out-of-doors. I trusted in Christ as my Lord and Savior in high school when some youth from Campus Crusade for Christ came to our Methodist church’s youth group and shared about Christ’s unconditional love. It was during my senior year at Iowa State, 1976, that I got involved with our early Stonebrook campus fellowship. There I eventually met Mike and we were married in 1980.
We now have 5 grown children and one with the Lord. Jessica, our oldest, is a homeschooling stay at home mom and has 4 girls, Naomi, Erika, Lydia and Annabelle. Luke and Holly also have 4 children, Joshua, Liam, Eva and Emma. Luke is Stonebrook’s campus pastor and Holly is a busy homeschooling mom. Jonathan and Lynn are with our sister church in West Lafayette, Ind. They have William, Paisley and one on the way. Jonathan is a general manager of a Panera and Lynn is hard at work at home. Our daughter Ruth is also with the church in West Lafayette and works at Purdue. And Sarah Lydia and Daniel are with us in Ames and are part time on staff with the college ministry. Yes, I love my family. They are such a blessing from the Lord.
Currently, I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a supervising teacher to homeschool families and I have the joy of serving alongside my husband who is a bivocational pastor. Mike teaches at Iowa State and serves Stonebrook with an emphasis on Student ministry. One of my favorite verses is Gal.2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
