- Growing up (or earlier in your walk), how did you view the Bible—rulebook? devotional? mystery? life-giving?
- What have been some barriers for you in developing a consistent practice of being shaped by Scripture?
- Read 2 Timothy 3:15–4:4 together. Then discuss:
- According to verse 15, what is the purpose of the Scriptures in a person’s salvation?
- In verses 16–17, what does Paul say Scripture is “profitable” for? How do these functions help us grow?
- Paul uses the language of a solemn charge in 4:1–2. Why is preaching the Word so urgent and weighty?
- What do verses 3–4 reveal about the human heart? How do you see this tendency in the culture—or even in yourself?
- How does the Word of God lead us to Jesus—not just to information or morality, but to life in Him?
- What’s the danger of treating Scripture as a self-help manual or performance checklist instead of a means to behold Christ?
- Read John 6:63 and 1 John 1:1–3. How does Jesus relate to the phrase “Word of Life”?
Application
- How is God calling you to deepen your commitment to being shaped by Scripture?
- Through regular Bible reading or meditation?
- Through Scripture-based community (Community Group, discipleship, etc.)?
- Through responding more intentionally to the Sunday sermon
- If you’re a parent, spouse, friend, or mentor—how can you “preach the Word” in your daily relationships?
- What would it look like for our small group or ministry team to be more Word-shaped in how we operate?
