  1. What delightful sayings of grace and words of accurate truth (grace & truth) did you learn from studying the words of the Teacher in Ecclesiastes?
  2. Who inspired the words written by the Teacher?
  3. How were his words both like a cattle prod and a firmly embedded nail? Why are both important for learning?
  4. Solomon warns of adding wisdom beyond what God has already given in his inspired scriptures. We are to test all things written by men by the truth of God’s Word. Why then do believers sometimes appear to know the words of mere men better than the word of God, or want to read the books of men at the expense of time in God’s word?
  5. What three obligations are we to fulfill if we want our lives to count for something according to verses 13-14? What do we need to be able to meet these obligations?
  6. How is your joy in the present influenced by knowing the eternal security you possess in Jesus in the face of God’s final judgement?
  7. If someone were to ask you, “Why is life worth living?” How would you respond based on things you learned from the book of Ecclesiastes?
