1. The author states that “There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity.” What specific activities does he list in verses 2-8, and what might they mean within consideration of the historical context of the time it was written?

2. Think of examples in today’s culture where people try to assert their own control rather than cooperating with God’s principles or timing. Are there any examples in your own life where you tried to force your own timeline?

3. Why is God’s sovereign control in the timing and purpose for everything not to be considered with a “fatalistic” viewpoint where we think we are are robbed of our free will or responsibility?

4. What is the purpose of the task God has given the children of Adam and what does God do in the tasks He gives us?

5. Ecclesiastes 3:11 states “He (God) has also put eternity in their hearts.” What are the results of what He has put in the hearts of men?

6. What purpose does God NOT have for us in the timing of the work He gives us to do?

7. Why is life to be seen as a gift from God and how does having that worldview change the way we steward and enjoy our life?

5. What comfort can I derive knowing I am a child of God being prepared for an eternal home and how will that shape my attitude the next time I am facing difficulty?
