  1. Read Ex. 34:15-16, Dt. 7:1-3 & 2 Cor. 6:14-18. Why was Samson’s demand for a Philistine woman to become his wife a foolish one?
  2. Samson’s father and mother gave in to Samson’s demand. Despite their sinful decisions, how was this being used by God for His purposes?
  3. In light of God’s ability to accomplish his purposes either with us or in spite of us, why is it important to allow God to rule our life rather than ourselves?
  4. What terrible things transpired from Samson’s selfishness? (Read the rest of chapter 14 & 15 and make notes of what you observe)
  5. Why would a vineyard be an unwise place for Samson to enter?
  6. How did Samson use the power of the Spirit of the Lord? Did he engage the power of the spirit for God’s purposes or his own?
  7. What was the problem with eating honey from the carcass of the lion?
  8. What was the purpose of Samson engaging the thirty men in his riddle? What were the consequences of this riddle?
  9. Samson’s Philistine wife enticed him, controlled him and betrayed him. In what ways have you observed or personally experienced the ramifications of compromising or confronting to worldly beliefs rather than standing firm in God’s commands?
  10. How did Samson demonstrate he was more about personal vengeance and private gain rather than seeking to fight battles for the Lord?
  11. The Israelites cooperated with the Philistines by handing over Samson. What could they have done differently?
  12. What is the only thing we see Samson ask God for in this text? What else could have been beneficial to ask for?

  1. What types of worldly things entice or distract me from the purposes God has for me?
  2. What are ways my selfishness has impacted my life and the lives of others?
  3. What good has God worked in spite of me? What good has God worked through my willing obedience?
  4. What good things does God have for me to do today? (Hint: ask Him, then obey!)
