  1. Read Mark 2:1-12 and then retell the story in your own words as if you are sharing what you have been studying with a friend that you just happen to run into while running errands.
  2. Identify the three miraculous elements that this act of healing exhibited.
  3. What are some of the character and friendship qualities that you notice in the paralytic’s friends?
  4. Explain the phrase: Not all sickness is caused by sin, but sin always causes sickness.
  5. Why is forgiveness the greatest miracle Jesus ever performs?
  6. Define “blasphemous.”
  7. Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man. What does that mean and why would that be significant to the Jewish leaders and people. (See Daniel 7:13-14 for additional help)
  8. What was this healing meant to show to those that witnessed it?
  9. Why is it important that Jesus show he had the power to do the work only God could do?


Application


  1. What has Jesus miraculously healed in my life with his forgiveness? (Think of specific examples and then praise God for those things)
  2. What are the lengths I would go to bring one of my sick friends to Jesus? What actions can I begin to take on behalf of a friend that needs Jesus?
  3. When meditating on the power of God, how am I comforted by what I know to be true? What may be challenging about this truth for me?
