  1. Find a bible map and locate each place that is listed in vs. 7 & 8. Why was the large crowd following Jesus?
  2. What did Jesus experience as this multitude of people followed him?
  3. Why would Jesus strongly warn the demons not to make his identity as the Son of God known?
  4. After Jesus went up on the mountain, what did he do?
  5. What is the difference between a disciple and an apostle? What is the criteria for someone to be called an “apostle”?
  6. What were the twelve appointed apostles commissioned to do?
  7. Why was appointing and sending out apostles an important thing for Jesus to do?
  8. What interesting things do you learn as you examine the list of twelve men of appointed by Jesus? What do those names teach you about Jesus?

  1. What are my motivations for coming to and spending time with Jesus?
  2. Where might I be like the crowd, and where might I be more like the apostles?
  3. What does Jesus commission me to do as his disciple?
